Il Dott. Hamad è intervenuto al congresso di Sorrento con una relazione sullo stato dei bisogni di riabilitazione del popolo siriano nei campi profughi. Il comitato del WHO sta cercando di organizzare attività di aiuto per la situazione.

Rehabilitation for the Syrian victims
Purpose :
To find the best method to rehabilitate the casualties of the Syrian crisis, by taking opinions, suggestions and support from the Cooperation committees.
Introduction :
Syria is located geographically in the heart of three continents ( Asia, Europe and Africa).
Historically it is a very ancient country, you can find archeology aged more than 10000 years.
Population, more than 23 million from a wide variety of ethnic, religious and Cults groups make a mosaic and live in a civilized and social harmony for many many ages.
What is going on:
Since March 2011 and the Syrian people have been suffering after the uprising which started in a peaceful and civilized way what so called Arab spring , like other countries ( Egypt, Tunisia and Libya ).
As a response from the security forces many thousands of them were killed by shooting or bombing , others were injured, and more than million became homeless .
Medical Care:
From the medical care stand-point, there are many medical organizations and associations but the main and the most recognized body is Syrian Expatriate Medical Association (SEMA) . SEMA is a non-governmental ,non-profit and ,non-political organization, was established by Syrian doctors and other health professionals to help their people inside and outside Syria.
Rehabilitation:
Many projects have started but none of them is clearly devoted for Rehabilitation. The medical care focuses on saving life and treating the acute conditions hence minimal effort is being provided to the medical rehabilitation , as others think it can wait till the situation is settled down, which is incorrect from Rehabilitation Medicine perception
Major Impairments and diagnoses lead to disability and need rehabilitation.
- Amputations
- Spinal Cord Injury ( SCI ) including tetra- and paraplegics.
- Traumatic Bain Injury
Current Situation
The disabled are located in different locations, the main areas are:
- Inside Syria
- The Syrian refugee camps in Turkey
- The Syrian refugee camps in Jordan .
The catastrophe was beyond the capabilities of the Syrian community so they sought help and support from other humanitarian organizations.
Based on that I have started ,on behalf of SEMA, to contact the international concern organizations seeking their advise, help and support in all aspects.
